The AMOS Observatory Association (AOA) was founded in January 2005 with the goal of building a new observatory for astrophotography. The AOA members are a small team of experts in the fields of astrophotograpy, comet observation and digital image enhancement.
The new observatory has been designed and will be build by the AOA. If you want to know more about it, take a look at the topic “Building Amos II”. Everyone who thinks about building his own observatory should have a look at it. But be prepared that the idea might not be that appealing afterwards.

The site for the new observatory is located at the southern slope of Mount Gerlitze giving us a perfekt 360° field of view down to the horizon. The only obstruction is the summit of Mount Gerlitze in the North, but it only rises to a height of about 16° above the horizon.

This project would not have been possible without the ongoing support from our families and friends.
